BLAZEPAY | Troubleshooting Payment Terminals

This guide provides simple steps to help you troubleshoot common issues and keep your terminal working correctly.

Terminal Battery Troubleshooting

Preliminary Charging Requirements

Before assuming a hardware failure, ensure the device has been provided with adequate power to initiate the startup process.

  • Minimum Charge Time: Connect the terminal to a power source for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power it on. A deeply depleted battery may require this time to reach a functional voltage.

  • Power Source Verification: If the device fails to charge, replace the current charging cable and power adapter with a known working set to rule out faulty accessories.

Battery Maintenance

Physical obstructions at the connection points can frequently prevent the device from receiving power.

  1. Access the Battery: Remove the battery compartment cover located on the rear of the terminal.

  2. Removal and Inspection: Carefully remove the battery. Inspect the gold contact points on both the battery and the terminal housing.

  3. Debris Removal: Ensure the contacts are free of dust, lint, or any foreign material. If necessary, wipe the contacts with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.

  4. Reseat the Battery: Reinsert the battery firmly, ensuring it is properly aligned with the connectors, and replace the cover.

System Restart and Hardware Evaluation

Once the battery is correctly seated and has been charged, perform a manual restart to refresh the system.

  • Manual Restart: Press and hold the Confirm (GREEN key) button for a minimum of three seconds.

  • Hardware Replacement: If the terminal remains unresponsive after trying a secondary charger and cleaning the battery contacts, the internal battery or charging hardware has likely failed. In this instance, a terminal replacement is required.

Charger and Connection Troubleshooting

If your device isn't getting power, the issue is often a loose connection or a bit of dust. Use these simple steps to find out where the problem is and how to fix it.

Test Your Equipment

First, check if the charger itself is working.

  • Try another device: Plug your charger into a different terminal of the same model.

  • Identify the culprit: If the second terminal charges, the problem is with your first device. If it doesn't charge, the charger likely needs to be replaced.

Clean the Connections

Small bits of dust or lint can block power from getting to your terminal.

  • Inspect the ends: Look inside the charging port on the terminal and at the end of the charging cable.

  • Clear out debris: If you see any dust, gently blow it out or wipe it away with a dry cloth to ensure a clean connection.

Refresh the System

Sometimes the terminal just needs to be "woken up" with a restart.

  • For portable terminals: Turn the device completely off, wait a moment, and turn it back on.

  • For plugged-in (tethered) terminals: You can either unplug the power cord and plug it back in, or go into the Admin Menu and select Reboot.

Final Check

After restarting, look for the charging icon on the screen. If the device still won't charge after cleaning it and trying a different power cord, the charger or the terminal itself may be broken and will need to be replaced.
