Empower Your Business with Bulk Product Updates Using CSV Files
⚠️ To ensure the security of your product data, it is strongly advised that retailers create and maintain a safety copy of their product list. This precautionary measure is vital in cases where unintended bulk updates occur.
For instance, if an accidental bulk update leads to undesired changes, the sole recourse to revert to the previous state is to import the safety file. ⚠️
Our Bulk Product Update feature empowers retailers to efficiently manage and update multiple product details using a .CSV file. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about utilizing the tool effectively and making bulk updating a streamlined process for your retail operation.
Downloading your CSV File for Bulk Updates
Your first step will be to download the working file from your BLAZE Canada POS.
- Navigate to your BLAZE Canada dashboard.
- Go to Products > Product List.
- Select the Import/Export button in the upper right corner of your screen.
- Select the Product Details on Import/Export pop-up
- Select Export CSV to download your Product List.
- This will be your working file.
Making Updates to the CSV File
Before diving into the bulk update, keep the following key points in mind:
ID
- All rows MUST have an ID.
- ID is provided by BLAZE Canada; retailers should not alter the ID.
- Missing IDs or discrepancies with the database will result in errors.
- Duplicate IDs in different rows will trigger an error.
Parent ID
- Similar to ID but for child products.
- Parent and child products share the same Parent ID.
- Missing or invalid Parent IDs are ignored.
SKU
- Limited to 255 characters.
- Deleting the SKU field removes the SKU from the product.
Parent SKU
- Child product rows have the Parent SKU.
- Changes to this field are ignored.
Name
- Maximum of 255 characters.
- Standalone and Parent products cannot have duplicate names.
- Variants can have duplicate names.
- Empty Name fields will result in an error.
Parent Name
- Child product rows have the Parent Name.
- Changes to this field are ignored.
Brand
- Reassigns or creates a new brand.
- Maximum of 255 characters for new brands.
- Changes are restricted to Parent products.
Image URL
- Replaces or adds a picture to the product.
- Empty fields remove existing pictures.
- URLs must end in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, or .webp.
Is Active
- Applies to both variants and parent products.
- Values must be True or False.
Description
- Updates the product description.
- Empty fields clear values in the dashboard.
Barcode
- Limited to 100 characters.
- Empty fields clear values in the dashboard.
Other Numeric Fields
- Net Product Weight, Cannabis Weight, Cannabis Volume, THC, CBD, Min THC, Max THC, Min CBD, Max CBD: Positive integers or decimals ex: 21.5
Show Min/Max
- Updates a product to show Min and Max cannabinoids.
- Values must be True or False.
THC/CBD Unit
- Must be %, mg, ml, mg/g, or mg/ml.
Strain Type
- Must be Sativa, Sativa Dominant, Indica, Indica Dominant, Hybrid, CBD, or Balanced.
Tag
- Comma-separated tags ex: tag1, tag2, tag3.
- Reassigns, creates, or removes tags.
Fields Uneditable
Certain fields cannot be edited through bulk updates:
- Parent ID
- Parent SKU
- Parent Name
- Full Name
- Category
- Is Master Product
- Is Tracking Inventory
- Retail Price
- Deposit Fee
- Tax
- Wholesale Cost
- Track Lots
- Created
- Updated

To edit a parent product's SKU or name, make changes directly in the parent product. These fields are labeled as SKU and Name in the parent product.
Uploading your CSV File for Bulk Updates
After you have made a safety copy of your updates and are confident in the changes you want to make, follow the steps below to upload your product data into your dashboard.
- Navigate to your BLAZE Canada dashboard.
- Go to Products > Product List.
- Select the Import/Export button in the upper right corner of your screen.
- Select the Product Details on Import/Export pop-up
- Click and select or drag the file into the box at the bottom of the pop-up.
- The upload can take up to 10 minutes to complete.
Do not upload another a file until the initial upload has completed.
