Understand how to manage cart-level discounts and how they can be stacked with other cart or product-level discounts
What is a Cart Discount?
Cart Discounts are applied to the total dollar amount of all products purchased on a transaction before taxes.
Creating a Cart Discount

- Go to Products > Discounts

Understanding Stackable Cart Discounts
The Stackable toggle will control whether a cart discount can be combined with another product or cart level discount on the POS. Bundle discount are currently not stackable with any other discount type.
When a discount is set to non-stackable (or disabled), the discount can only be applied to the cart if the products being sold are not already discounted by another product or cart level discount.
If a product level discount is already applied to all products in the cart, the non-stackable discount will not apply at all.
Taking advantage of product or category exclusions will allow non-stackable cart discounts to apply to carts that contain already discounted items.
When stackable (or enabled), the stackable cart discount can be applied to the cart regardless of other product or cart level discounts. This means that multiple product and cart level stackable discounts can be combined.
Stackable + Non-Stackable Cart Discounts on POS
On Greenline POS, on the Cart Discount list there will be a red "non-stackable" tag beside each cart discount to indicate that it is non-stackable.
On the POS, click Cart Discounts near the bottom right corner to open the cart discount list:
Understanding Discount Tags in the POS Cart
When using non-stackable cart discounts, you may notice tags like "Included", "Excluded", or "Non-stackable" on the discount line item. Here’s how each of these tags works:
-
Non-stackable: This tag appears when a cart discount is set not to combine (or “stack”) with other product or cart discounts.
-
Included: This tag shows products that have been explicitly included in the discount, based on the configuration settings in your Dashboard. (For example, if you limit a cart discount to only apply to edibles, those items will appear under this tag.)
-
Excluded: This tag shows all products in the cart that are not eligible for the discount — even if they weren’t manually excluded.
Cart Discounts on BLAZE ECOM
Currently, non-stackable cart discounts are not supported on BLAZE ECOM. Non-stackable cart discounts will result in an error when applied by the customer at checkout.
Our team is aware of this limitation and we are working with our ECOM development team to make the necessary updates.
Support for non-stackable cart discounts will be added in a future release.
In the meantime, we recommend that retailers configure non-stackable cart discounts to apply only to the POS sales channel to avoid any disruption to the customer experience.
Consider the following when managing stackable and non-stackable discounts on BLAZE ECOM:
- Keep in mind that cart discounts on ECOM only work with coupon codes
- Non-stackable cart discounts will exclude any product(s) in the cart that have product-level discounts already applied.
- Only one coupon code can be applied to the cart on BLAZE ECOM at a time when using non-stackable discounts
